Is is sexist to want a certain gender?

I saw a video on Facebook where the dad was soooo happy that he finally got a boy after three girls and the comments were so unnecessary and rude! People saying he’s sexist for wanting a boy. I’m pregnant with my fourth and I have two girls and one boy and I want a boy so I can have 2 of each. I was personally offended by the comments because I can relate to the dad. What are your thoughts. 
Note: I would never ever be angry if I got a girl. I would be just as happy. Need to clarify that before posting.

If he said because girls are less valuable, you can't play ball with girls etc then yes it's sexist. But hell I'd be excited to have a boy too if I already had 3 girls lol

I don't think so at all. Honestly I feel most people want one or the other deep down. Maybe they won't come out and say it but who doesn't hope for a certain gender.

I don't think purely wanting one gender or another is sexist. I think the reasons behind wanting a certain gender however could be racist. For instance you want a boy so you have 2 of each, that's not sexist. I want a boy because this is our last and we already have two girls and I would like to have both sexes, I don't think that's sexist. A dad wanting a boy because "daughters can't carry family legacy, and boys are the dominant sex" now that would be sexist.

I grew up with 2 brothers, I have 3 nephews, and a stepson. I'm hoping my baby is a girl just for a little change.  I love the boys and if my baby is a boy of course I'll still love him. nothing wrong with that

The really angry responses to having the other gender comes off as sexist but being excited to have a particular doesn't if that makes sense. If you had the opposite gender it doesn't mean the person still wouldn't be excited, we just don't know their response. Now I'm not saying being disappointed makes you sexist but angry does. I know gender disappointment is a real thing and it's totally normal. Anger is not a normal response.
