Should it be the job of the majority to protect the minority?

I am looking for opinions but I will delete the topic if people start attacking minorities. I believe it should be.

I voted yes, but with distinct reservation s about the wording of your  question. This seems like a white savior attitude. 
It is the job of the majority to promote a more equitable society. It's benevolent racism to view yourself as a protector or savior for simply standing up to racism.

I said yes, but I think for me it's really more that those with privilege have an obligation to use the safety, security and platform afforded by that privilege to stand up for equality.

Should the occasion arise, people who're privileged in society should protect marginalised people when there is threat of danger. 
For Example:

I'm not sure how I feel about the wording outside of the example I have used. I generally don't think those from marginalised groups are helpless that the require constant protection. 
I do think allies have a duty to listen, educate themselves and stand with marginalised people more often than having a duty to protect. It's comes across as a saviour complex, IMO. At least, as a queer person reading this from the perspective of a cishet person saying they would "protect the LGBT+ community" it comes across that way. But if anyone else disagree in that respect, please feel free to explain.

Yes and no, as long as the majority doesn’t interpret this as that it’s acceptable to speak over the minority and make decisions for them. its their job to support, not dictate.

I voted yes, but saying "protect" implies that minorities are helpless, and that's deflecting the responsibility of the majority. One group shouldn't have so much economic and social power that they need to protect another group. But given the way things currently are, it should definitely be their job to support, listen, and use their privilege to help.

I think "protecting" them implies minorities are weak and unable to fend for themselves. That sort of white savior attitude is problematic and contributes to the issue that is already at hand. 
Those who are privileged should help provide the stage where minorities can voice their concerns and come up with solutions, but they shouldn't take the mic from the hands of minorities and talk about issues they have not personally experienced. Defending a minority group is important but it should not be used to silence that same group you are claiming to "protect".

This is why we are not a pure democracy thankfully. A representative republic was purposely setup here in America to protect the minorities from the majority. Otherwise candidates would only campaign in New York and Cali and the test of us would have no voice. Is it perfect? No, but definitely better than pure democracy.

It depends on  what we're talking about here. If we're talking about herd immunity and immunizations to protect those who cannot get them, absolutely. If we're talking about protections for minorities so they're not persecuted by the majority, then yes. If we're talking about taxation of the general population to help the 1% minority make more of a profit, then I am against that.
