Should I do it?

When I'm 18 (3 years from now), I want to reach out to my real dad. He didn't want me from the time I was a newborn. I want to know why he didn't want me since he has a son who is like 5 years older than me. I want to know about him. I want to know who I am and where I come from. My mom won't ever talk to him. I can't even say biological dad without her just calling him my sperm donor. Would it actually be a good idea? Also he gave away his parental rights when I was about 4. I don't know where to post this so I'm sorry in advance

Honestly I wouldn’t do it. If one of my parents didn’t want to do anything with me, then why would I wanna try get in touch with them? I wouldn’t even consider them my parent anymore. I did that with my grandma and I couldn’t careless if she’s alive or dead, I haven’t talked or seen her in over 10 years. 
That’s just me, if you wanna meet him then do it. But don’t get your hopes up, he may not be interested in meeting you and your heart will be crushed

I say go for it, if you want answers / closure to your dad's side of the family then you deserve it and at least if you try to reach out he can't say you never tried. follow your heart

If you need closure, do it. Just be prepared for the possible rejection. My bio father told me straight out that he would continue phone only conversations if I promised not to go after back child support. I never really cared to have a father anyway so I told him to eat a dick and have a nice life. end of story.

My daughter was adopted by my now husband. Her biological father relinquished rights, only seeing her twice (she is now 5) and he has other children. As a mother of a sweet and loving little girl who will in time will become curious as you. I think there is no harm in trying. There is no worse feeling than feeling “incomplete”. But I would error on the side of caution, protect your feelings and understand this may not make you feel whole it may even make you feel worse.
