bathtub??

So I'm only 20 weeks pregnant with my first and my mom keeps saying that we NEED a bath tub for our kids. she has gone so far as to suggest to my uncle that he should get it for us for a baby gift. the place we are in now had a huge shower which my husband and I love. we can't be the only people who are planning to raise our kids in a place without a bath tub. do any of you think it's necessary? We just bought the infant boon naked collapsible tub.
