Pregnancy with low HCG?

Has anyone heard of or experienced having low HCG to where it doesn’t show on the hpt?

I know it happened with my mom when she was pregnant with me. She was convinced she was pregnant & getting all the signs but her tests kept coming up negative. Even the ones at the doctors office. She finally had an ultrasound done & she was nearly 6 months pregnant with me when she found out. She asked why the tests said negative & the doctor said she just didn’t have enough HCG to give the test the kick it needed.
