FTM delivery story

Gisselle • 20.UCLA.

So I thought this day would never come buuut here I am with a brand new baby boy. So I went into early labor at 34 weeks and had been 2 cm dilated for weeks until this past Saturday, I woke up fine ate breakfast and started getting ready to go to the mall with my family, I get weird like I was cramping and I noticed I had a bloody mucous plug (which had always been clear) I knew something was up, but I didn't tell my family because I didn't want them to panic and take me to the hospital just so I'd be sent home. So we walked all over and I came home where they started feeling worse. I told my boyfriend and called the hospital & they told me to come in. Once I was checked they said I was 4 cm!! I was so nervous I thought "this is it" until the doctors came in and said they were sending me home because I wasn't progressing and was literally one day from being 37 weeks (full term). I literally cried, because at this point my contractions hurt so bad!

So they gave me some morphine and I was happily drugged and ready to go home. Sunday I was finally considered full term at 37 weeks. This morning the pain was the same, but my mom was on a mission to get me delivered that day so we went to run some errands, I was at vons stopping in every aisle gasping for air, and finally my mom took me to my hospital where I was admitted at 6pm I was sooo relieved!! At this point I was 5 cm and 80% effaced so they started an epidural and gave me some pitocin to get the contractions moving + my water was broken too. I fell asleep and next thing I know I'm 10 cm and 100% effaced at 4 am. I'm so nervous and just want to get it over with, but they don't let me push for like 30 min until the baby has lowered himself down a bit more. I pushed for 45 min (beating the other women who were pushing before me) lol and he was out! I received one stitch and my baby was born a healthy 8.6 pounds 20.5 inches. The doctors and nurses were so surprised at how fast and well everything went considering it was my first delivery. Here's my baby, Andres Hector Aguilar ❤ btw idk how I would've pushed him out if he went the full 40 weeks this baby would've torn me apart haha
