Do you feel addiction in the US or across the globe is at an all time high?

Mainly referring to drug addiction but you could also think of gambling, shopping, food, etc.

Why are we going based off feelings when we have the internet that can give us statistics on drug use and if its increasing or decreasing? 😂 As far as I can tell (by using the internet to research) heroin use is on the rise in the US, as is marijuana use but marijuana is also being legalized so it's kind of to be expected. 
Don't really care enough to research gambling addictions, to be quite honest.

I honestly believe that we have become so detached and disillusioned as a society that yes, addictions of all kinds are on the rise. More and more people are looking for clutches and safety nets and a way to deal with life that people are turning to things like drugs, alcohol, shopping, gambling, eating etc. 
Some start it as a way of escaping and getting a release from life temporarily and it escalated from there. Others start by a way of trying to control things, say in the case of exercise addiction.
We are losing the ability to just be.

I think Americans are by the far the most 'addicted' nation in the world... addicted to oil, consumerism, religion, gambling, drugs, sex, materialism etc etc etc etc. America has fallen... and the 'trump presidency' is proof of that, because President Trump is a reflection of the people... if anyone saw/heard/listened to the completely unacceptable things he said and did in the last presidential campaign and then VOTED FOR HIM, they are fucken nuts, hence he is a reflection of the people who choose him to be in power! Most countries have their issues with 'addictions' but it's more under control than it is in USA 🇺🇸 sad but true. I think America will rise again... but not in our lifetime

Yea my home state (Massachusetts) has a opioid crisis on their hands right now, it's terrible. Globally yes, I think we are seeing a lot of more drug addiction, but it's happening in unexpected places like the suburbs, so we don't even realize. Overall I think globally we are seeing more and more and more addiction of all sorts, especially since we are more aware. We never used to hear about food addiction, which is very common now, or gambling and sex addiction but we are learning a lot more and are seeing these a lot more than we used to.

I dont know if this is because Its something Ive been exposed to my whole life, but I feel like this has always been something thats been common. My parents are both addicts. My aunts, uncles, grandparents. Most of which are in recovery now. They all started young. my dad was dropping acid at 10. And talking to him about it, he told me that almost everyone when he was young was all basically doing the same shit young people are now. As I've grown into an adult, ive watched old loves, close friends, some family my age, have problems with it.

The opiate problem is an EPIDEMIC right now... the government just said they’re gonna start using fentynal to put prisoners to death so now my conspiracy theory senses are tingling 🤔🤔🤔.
But either way, I’ve lost a few friends this year to heroin, ALMOST lost my boyfriend in a matter of me pulling over for him to get in the backseat “because I feel sick—don’t move for 5 minutes” then an extra 6 minutes for the first responding officer to arrive just for two doses of Narcan to not do anything because he was bleeding out of his nose so bad before EMS arrived and did a IV line of it to bring him back. 
Like it took longer for my dog to be put to sleep at the vet office, than it took for my boyfriend to die in the backseat without me even realizing what he was doing back there 😢
MOST states are Good Samaritan states which means NO ONE will get charged with drugs if you call for help with an overdose, and you can get FREE Narcan/Naloxone at a lot of public resources like hospitals, campuses, pharmacies, etc...
My state is famous for their ignorant “bathroom laws” and it’s still a Good Samaritan state for overdoses, so that should say something about the addiction epidemic.

A couple years ago when I was in D.A.R.E. For school they said it’s actually down quite a bit but “they” (whoever tf they are, pretty sure the meant like cigarette sellers and drug sellers idk) want u to think the use is increasing. 
Now I’m gonna go with yeah it probably is for some things rather than others. Ik smoking cigs is going down, weeds going up, heroin is probs going up/stable. Idk. Whatever. People r idiots

Addictions have always existed I think we are more connected and aware of what is going on in the world now so it just seems like more but it’s probably about the same.
