Should ripped jeans be cheaper than regular jeans?

Let’s say a regular pair of jeans are $50. Should ripped jeans (purposely ripped, not accidentally ripped) be cheaper than the regular pair? Does it depend on how many rips/how big the rips are?

No because they are in higher demand and more popular so they’ll either be the same or more expensive.
The ones where literally just your crotch is not ripped are ridiculous but I think you should pay less

They should cost more, because adding that textile takes more time and different machinery or people to do so. So more work. If that makes sense.

When you’re weaving a pair of jeans they are a solid piece of fabric. Torn jeans are done on purpose by distressing. Some companies literally get special rocks from other countries and put the jeans in a dryer with the rocks to get that whited out distressed look. They rub jeans with sandpaper to make rub marks. It requires a lot of manual labor. Even though the jeans look lower quality. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think its fair that theyre usually more expensive. They dont just hack away at them with a pair of scissors, getting planned and intentional rips in jeans is actually pretty difficult, it needs more time and effort than a regular pair of jeans so I think it makes sense.

I’ve never thought about it 😂 my ripped jeans are good quality ones, they also have a couple of ‘slits’ rather than rips and tears. I pay the same as I do for a normal pair and I’m fine with that. I guess if I got cheaper ones I’d want to make sure they didn’t rip beyond the rip if that makes sense? It sounds silly but I’m fussy, I know what I mean 😂😂😂.

No, if you want to purchase something ripped up and expect it to cost less then you should just buy a regular pair of jeans and rip them up yourself.
