should i tell her ? **update**
im a stahm and do some in home babysitting. i have watched this womans son for about 3-4 months. i have noticed things about him that seem to be autism. i took child psychology in college. hes 18 months old and he flaps his hands constantly rarely ever stopping. he will not make eye contact or look you in the face. he does not speak, shake his head no or yes, will not interact or play with other. children. wont point at objects. he doesnt respond to his name, doesnt play games like peekaboo, he doesnt babble or really make any noises. im almost certain its autism. we have free developmental screenings where im from where they check eyes, ears, motor skills etc. i let her know about it since i took my son and just let her know they do it in case she would like to go. this is her first child she has another on the way. she has voiced her concerns about some of the things he does and doesnt do. i consider her a friend since we text and talk often but i dont know if i should say anything. i dont want to offend her in any way. i can tell shes worried and feels like shes overreacting when she compares him to other children. i want to help her but i dont want to overstep or offend. should i talk to her about what i have noticed or not say anything? -i should also add ive worked with autistic kids before. and if i talked to her about it i wouldnt actually use the word autism. i would tell her ive noticed certain things as well. **UPDATE** i did end up telling her i have noticed what she was concerned about. she took him to the screening and they do believe he has autism but are unsure of how severe yet ,and will be starting early interventions including speech therapy. she also wasnt angry at me or anything like that and seemed to be relieved she wasnt the only one who noticed.
