Mucus in Stool

So about once a month I notice mucus either in my stool or when I pass gas while trying to “go”. Sometimes it’s clear, sometimes orange, sometimes yellow. On occasion, I have noticed it after I have a hard stool. I have noticed it for about the last six months. I am just looking for anyone who has had the same thing happen? I have talked to my doctor and he doesn’t seem overly concerned. He said if I want to put my mind at ease, he will refer me to get a colonoscopy but doesn’t think it’s urgent. Anyone experience this?
