What age should you talk to your kids abt the birds and the bees?

So I just read a post about a 12 year old boy and 13 year old girl getting pregnant.

As a mother to an 8 year old boy, with another one on the way, it made me think about when I’d have to talk to them about sex, safety, consent, etc.

I was 16 when I got pregnant and my mom never had the talk with me. She’s foreign and religious and they don’t talk much about it. She thought school talking about it would suffice and was disgusted whenever I tried to bring it up when I was younger.

My hubby got the talk around 11 years old. He and his family are non-religious. He didn’t get anyone pregnant young. Lol.

What age do you all feel is appropriate to have “the talk” with your child or hypothetically a child?
