Question

Can anyone tell me a bit about herpes? i plan to get tested to be safe but the things i find online scare me. if anyone is currently dealing please inform me as to what it is like for you.

They can test your blood for both HSV 1 and 2. 
I have several people in my close family with this disease (it is WAY more common than people realize), and it is entirely manageable  With anti-virals, outbreaks can be minimized, even stopped. When you feel an outbreak coming on, you refrain from sexual contact, until it’s over. Usually 5-7 days. Take NSAIDS to deal with the discomfort.
It is very important that you tell your OB that you have HSV 2. It can be transmitted to your baby at birth and can be fatal. If you are not having an outbreak you can have a vaginal birth. If you are, they will schedule a c-section.
