Irregular periods

My period cycles range from 30-40 days. I’m in day 35 now and no period although I’ve been having bad cramp and pain for the past 2 weeks, which is not usual for me. I’ll have my pains and cramps and few days before I start not for this long. I’ve been TTC for a year but it’s been unsuccessful so far, I’m beginning to think I may be pregnant this time with all these pains lately but I just don’t want to get my hopes up just to be let down again. So I’m going to way until day 40 before I test
