early signs of autism?

autism runs in my husband's family, and the doctor said it is important to detect it early. I have no idea what early signs look like, and as a FTM of a 4 month old, I have no idea what I'm looking for.
of course I'll love my baby no matter what!

I work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. It is not likely that a child will be diagnosed with an ASD earlier than 3-4 years of age. If you’re worried, just keep track of your child’s developmental milestones and communicate your concerns with your pediatrician. Every child is different and some are just late bloomers. A child with an ASD would begin showing signs around 18 months but they don’t normally confirm a diagnosis that early.

Hi, my daughter was diagnosed with Autism. Remember all children with autism are completely different, that's why it's spectrum disorder. I knew to look for signs as I worked with special needs children for 3 years prior. At 4 months I do not think you will see anything. Basically, my daughter met all her milestones on time or before until around 11 month old. She had beautiful eye contact with us until it wasn't there. Babbling when should have been words. Wasn't walking. She LOVED mirrors and could sit there in her own little world babbling for 45 mins straight. When I saw they signs, I got her hearing tested - which was fine. Then she went to search therapy, and the therapist is the one who said it's more than just a speech issue. Most kids are not diagnosed before 18 months. There is not enough signs and consistency to diagnose before then. My daughter wasn diagnosed at 2 years old. Most diagnosis happens between 2 and 3 years old

I think 4 months old is a bit too early. they usually don't diagnose until 1-3 years
