safe sex

my boyfriend and i have been together for a little over a year. we aren’t “planning” on having sex but our makeouts get very intense and i don’t want to be in the heat of the moment and not have protection so i was wondering if drugstore condoms work as well as the bigger name brands? are they only more expensive because of comfort? or are drugstore brands less likely to be effective? i’m on birth control. just worrying and want it to be 100% safe. all help is appreciated. thank you.
