Long In Law story

So this might be long so if I were you, I’d get the popcorn ready 🍿.

Some time around Dec 18 2016, whenever I found out I was pregnant, my husband & I decided to announce it like a present. We put the 2 pregnancy test and the health department paper confirming my pregnancy and my die date August 15, 2017. So we decided to tell his parents first since they live like 5 minuets away. So we get to their house and his dad is the only one there. We asked him where his wife was at & he said she went to the mall with her daughter and her daughters boyfriend. So I asked my husband if we should wait or go ahead and give him the gift. He went ahead and gave him the present. He opened it and was so happy for us. He gave us each a hug and congratulated us. Couple minutes go by and his mom gets there with his sister & sisters boyfriend. So my husband gets her to sit down and to open the present. She opened it and said “I don’t like this gift. I don’t want it.” In other words, saying she didn’t want MY CHILD. She got up and left to her room. There was just silence. & I guess to break the silence, his sister goes and hugs me & says congratulations. I was shook. Did those words really come out of her mouth. I looked at my husband and said. Take me home NOW. The ride to our house was silent. I was crying & heard my husband cry as well. We got home & his dad calls him asking him “why did you leave” my husband replied “Dont act like you didn’t hear what she said.” His dad was quite and was trying to calm my husband down but my husband hung up. I was obviously so upset. I had no one to talk to. So I had to ruin the surprise to my parents. I called my mom crying telling her i was pregnant and what that lady said to me. My mom was angry, but she was trying to calm me down telling me it wasn’t healthy for me or the baby to be how I am. I ended up calming down and went towards my husband and hugged him. We needed up calming down and went to bed. We didn’t speak or go over until Christmas. I stayed in the car and he got out and gave his parents their gifts. His mom was crying asking him to forgive her what she said. TO HIM. That went by and around the middles of January, he invited his parents over so “we could talk”. She did not say ONE word to more. She didn’t even APOLOGIZE. The one who apologized was her husband when he didn’t have anything to do with it. So whatever I dropped. I won’t lie, throughout my pregnancy I was depressed. What she said did affect me because I mean, my child wasn’t even born yet. On April 30, 2017, I had noticed some bleeding. I went to the hospital only to find out my Cervix was dilated to 2cm. They had kept me there & I guess she felt sorry and came to the hospital EVERY SINGLE DAY. On that Wednesday, they had seen that I was okay and decided to take me off the medication and see how my body would react. Thursday morning around 5 am, my placenta had erupted. I had went from 2cm to 4cm. I had to get an Emergency C-Section. My daughter was born on May 4th at 9:11 AM. (My mother in laws birthday is May 8) Being 24 weeks & 6 days. I was obviously upset & even more since I didn’t get to see my baby that day. So the next day, I woke up excited to finally see my daughter! While his mom came everyday, she would bring us food etc etc. After I seen my daughter in the NICU, i was telling my husband, “I can’t wait to get mani pedis with her!” His mom butts in the conversation and says “No she won’t! My girl is gonna be a sister.” (His families religion is Apostolic, the long skirts, no jewelry, no makeup, etc) I simply laughed thinking “Oh now you want my daughter?”

On May 9, i was able to leave the hospital. But at the same time my daughter got really sick and they took her to Children’s of Alabama.

They had to do surgery on her since she had what is known as NEC. The surgery was a success, but on May 10, she passed away asleep due to it being too late. We had her funeral on the 13. I decided I want to have her cremated. His mom didn’t agree. She said she wanted her to be buried. But she was cremated. I was her at my house with a little alter my dad made for her. A few weeks after her funeral, we found out that my brothers 15 year old daughter (lives in Mexico) was pregnant. My husbands sister in law told us that his mom made the worst comment ever. My husbands mom said “Well, looks like I will end up getting my grandchild.” I was heated. How could someone talk about an innocent child like that? She had talked a lot of crap about me but I never said a word. But something I won’t let is for someone to talk about my baby. Especially now since she isn’t here to defend herself. Sometime around July, I decided to go and talk to her. Since she obviously can’t ever come to my house. (Let me remind you, she had apologized to MY HUSBAND about saying she didn’t want my daughter, not to me) I went off (didnt cuss and was very respectful) I told her, KEEP MY DAUGHTER OUT OF YOUR MOUTH. My baby isn’t here to defend herself so I sure as hell will defend her. I told her that my next child, I wanted to be away from her negative vibes and that she wouldn’t be allowed in the hospital. She kept denying what she said and told my that Im the reason why her son stopped going to their church (when in reality im the one telling him he should go) so my husband defends me and says it to her. So she “apologized” and hugged me crying saying “i pray to Jehova heals the hate from your heart & makes me a better mother in law” i was like whatever okay I’ll guess I’ll accept it but can’t expect everything to be the same. My husband is the same. He hasn’t went to their church. & only goes to his parents once every 2 weeks. He made those choices NOT ME.On her supposed due date last year, nobody bothered to come visit. (Except my family) that bothered me so much bc they could post on Facebook that they “love and care” but can’t come to our house and visit her ashes. The only person who has is my brother in law. He gives her little kisses. Her anniversary is coming up and Im pretty damn sure THEY won’t come. Rant is over for now 🤷🏻‍♀️
