Baby shower at 3 months pregnant?

My husband and I are moving the second week of March to a different state. I was a wreck thinking about my friends who wouldn’t be able to come to my baby shower because of the distance. After talking with my mom and my husband, we thought it would be better for my social group to have the shower early. Is it not okay to have a shower this early? Any ideas on what we can do to encourage people to send gifts to our new address? What kind of things should be on our registry? Due to the timing, hubby and I will probably have to plan it ourselves too. What’s a future momma to do?
