Crib Location

We just picked up our crib - yay! - but haven’t put it together yet because I’m not sure where to put it. We live in a bungalow with the master bedroom upstairs and two bedrooms on the first level. We planned on making a first floor bedroom the baby’s room, but I’m figuring we’ll have the baby upstairs for easy access for at least 1-2 years(?). I’ll be getting a bedside sleeper as I’m planning to breastfed. Should I set the crib up upstairs with us or downstairs in the “official” bedroom and use a pack and play style thing until they’re old enough to sleep?
