did you show your baby to social media right away?

just curious i notice a lot of people don’t show their kids right away for like a month or more

Mine was a yes and no. I had VERY strict rules for family when it came to the birth of our first baby. I had a very stressful pregnancy (due to life and living situations, not baby himself) so my first and biggest rule, was when I go into labor, only certain people would know. Being my and my husbands immediate family, and my grandparents. Next biggest rule that I have been telling them since I was 4 months pregnant, was NOBODY was to post or tell anybody my son was born until WE said so and do it first. While I was in labor, my mom “accidentally” told some people outside of my circle. I was pissed but blew it off because I was having a very rough labor. Finally after he was born, (on a Saturday morning, so EVERYBODY would be on Facebook) I said no still to posting about him. I wanted some time as a family of 3 to enjoy a very private few hours on and offline. I was sleep deprived at this point. Labored for 28 hours, and running on 4 hours of sleep in almost 48 hours. My mom kept texting me asking if she could post and me being so tired; didn’t answer her. I couldn’t keep my eyes open. After a couple hours I woke up, and noticed that our phones kept lighting up. I check it, and what do I see? MY MOTHER HAD POSTED PICTURES ABOUT HIM! People were commenting and posting on our pages, and I was furious! I messaged her saying she knew very damn well I said NO and had not changed my mind at any point. She said I never answered her texts so she thought she could. I went off on her. I feel bad now because she was 50% of my support during labor and couldn’t have done it without her, but I was heartbroken. I’ve had very little privacy and say about my own pregnancy. I told her to take it down right then, I deleted posts off our pages, messaged the people who did saying i sorry they were not supposed to know and will not be giving details anytime soon. Some people were very nosey and rude and kept publicly posting if they could get details. I just unfriended/blocked them and made my mother tell them why I did it. After 4 days, and we were getting ready to bring him home, I told my husband to make the post. My mom was very sorry, and I made it clear, that next child, NO phones will be allowed in our room at all from anybody. We will take the first few photos, and will share them with family before we post, but I am not having that happen again. I understand she was excited, she had a right to be. Our son was my family’s first grandchild. But it was not her place to do this

I had a co-worker that was due sometime after me (I never was told her due date) and when I left on maternity leave I just assumed I'd see her baby on Facebook when she was born. She posted when she was almost 3 months old lol. I was just too excited not to put our announcement online but some people want that privacy for their family- which I can understand.

I posted pictures of my son over a month after he was born because I wasn’t on social media at all for that month. My family and closest friends saw him or were sent pictures so everyone who needed to know knew. So pictures I post are now just bc he’s so cute and I wanna share it lol 😁
