Why do woman stay with abusive men?

I never understood it, and I never will. My first abusive relationship was never physical but I ran as soon I saw it get bad . But I’ve done heard and seen girls in PHYSICALLY ABUSIVE relationships. Sometimes they even pregnant,. Like why? 🙁😒 i get he’s probably scary but...... there must be a way out.

You get cut off from the people you love. You get isolated from friends and family until all you have is your partner and they get into your head, make you feel like you need them. They scare you at times, make you miserable but somehow they degrade you enough to somehow feel like they are what you need to keep going and without then you have nothing and it's miserable if you ever get fully isolated and women to the idea of wanting to leave because you have no one to help you stay strong... No one to let you stay with them to possibly not only keep you hidden but in an untraceable living situation until you get on your feet. This may sound bad but I partially blame the mentality that women tend to do. They compliment your partner and say how wonderful you are and then when you break up they tell you the reasons why they actually hated them and knew it wouldn't last because of warning signs they saw. They never speak up and they leave after a while. My best friend got into 2 different abusive relationships and I not only stuck around no matter how much she blew me off but I also would point out red flags when she'd talk to me about advice. We need to stick together a bit more and be honest.

You probably won’t understand it unless you’ve gone through it to the extent they have. My best friend does it too. She is brainwashed into thinking that’s all she can get. So that’s why she stays. Plus she dates older men and loves to be submissive to them because she has daddy issues and they take care of her financially.

I think they feel trapped. They probably don't have a support system or resources of their own. The world is hostile when you're all alone. Abusive people focus systematically on destroying the confidence of their victim, or they might not need to if their victim grew up being abused. For some people, abuse is all they've ever known. It's frustrating, yes, but it's also very sad that they don't see their own strength.

Say you’ve been with “Jim” for 2 years and he was so perfect and lovely and just an angel. Then suddenly, he comes home drunk one night and starts swinging at you. The next morning he apologizes and says “i’m sorry baby i love you this won’t happen again” The next night jim comes home and the same thing happens again. The next night, he comes home SOBER, had a bad day at work and starts screaming at you and hitting you. After 3 hours he comes over to you and kisses you and says “i’m sorry i love you”. Basically, the girl is stuck in love with a man and she trusts him to change when he says sorry, but in reality it gets worse. You’re already in love with him so it’s hard to leave because you so desperately want him to change and he promises. It’s difficult. I’ve never been in an abusive relationship but i know how it goes.

Most times the abuser has totally worked away at dehumanizing the victim. The mental abuse is first, the manipulation and the isolation from all the support you have.  The total control over every aspect of their life. And once thats in place and the victim has no self worth then the physical abuse starts. There are typically 4 types of abuse. And as a survivor of all 4 , let me say that unless you have been in that pit of dispair its so super easy to say "why do they stay" we stayed because we lived in fear, we had noone to turn too and we believed they loved us.

I was in an abusive relationship for 15 years. We had 2 beautiful girls come from it. Sometimes women just don’t see it. It wasn’t physical at first just a lot of control things. And it wasn’t always bad. We would have a bad spell then a honeymoon period that was amazing. But then the honeymoon periods became shorter and shorter and that’s when I knew I needed to get myself and my kids out! It was scary, he was scary. I had no money no place to go... the usual “excuses”. He finally came home one night drunk to the point he couldn’t stand up and pulled out a kitchen knife and threatened my then 18 year old daughter and her boyfriend and then myself. He ended up going to jail and I was finally able to get some help. I was matched with a domestic violence advocate and attended a few classes and they paid for my divorce attorney as well. I had the same attitude about those types of situations....if it’s that bad then just leave. It’s really not that simple. Now you am an advocate and helping other women get out of desperate situations.

I was with my ex for 5 years who was physically abusive. I tried to leave many times he threatened to kill my family, me and anyone I know. He broke me down long before that I felt I had to stay with him. When he wasn't around he had his friends watch me. I went out of state and he somehow found out and showed up BOTH times. he raped me multiple times. I went to the police and it was always his word against mine and they believed him over me cause of my past. I was finally able to get away when he went to jail for having sex with a minor and when he got out he went to a different state to get a job..and it still look me a year after that happened to finally not be scared he was gonna come back and hurt me..

I’ll never understand it either. I know some women convince themselves that it’s not abuse bc it isn’t “physical”.
I know some women are stay at home moms and feel like they have to put up with his crap since she “needs him” for financial stability and she doesn’t really have a way to leave.
