Whooping Cough Vaccine?

So I had my 24 week Drs appt today and my Dr told me that at my next appointment I’ll not only be doing the sugar test but also getting a whooping cough vaccine. When did this become a thing? This is my 4th pregnancy and I’ve never even been offered that with my other pregnancies and none of my children have ever had whooping cough, my youngest is 8 now...

Read an article the other day that the TDaP vaccine was being more recommended for pregnant women to get back in 2011 that way the antibodies are passed to Baby and that since then it’s become common practice to receive between 26-33 weeks or so.

I don’t recall getting it with my nine year old but I had it with my two year old. Every person in our family got the shot. My brother and his friend got whooping cough while their band was on tour in CA about four years ago. Even with meds, I couldn’t believe how awful it was for them. They had the most painful sounding cough for two months. Nothing really worked to help. 
Family and mom get the vax to protect baby until they are old enough for DTaP at 2 months. Whooping cough is Pertussis, unless I’m remembering incorrectly.

I got mine at 24 weeks too this pregnancy. Also my mom (who is staying with us till the baby comes) my husband and my oldest son (4) all had their shots. 
With my oldest son I got it in the hospital after he was born.
