7 weeks brown/red spotting for 5 days

I am 7w3d and have been spotting brown blood since Monday. Not enough for a pad but usually everytime I wipe. On Thursday I had bright red blood when I wiped and went to the er. They said cervix was closed, blood had turned back to dark, and to just rest. I'm now back to spotting brown blood. Haven't had period like cramps, just upset stomach from constipation and nausea. Also, lower back pain possible from just laying in bed for so long trying to rest. I'm going to call my ob Monday when office opens but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced or is experiencing it and what happened. This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what you expect. is this the start of miscarriage? Just worried about the red blood and for it lasting this long.
