When did you start maternity leave

I’m just curious what you ladies did and why. 
Did you take off before baby arrives due to medical necessity or could you just not hang any more? How early did you take off. 
Those of you that waited until the baby arrived, how were your final weeks at work? What kind of work do you do?

Norwegian maternity leave starts 3 weeks before due date. my son was born 3 days before his due date so I had a few weeks to just relax, hang with friends, set things up, and sleep as much as possible. it was fantastic.

I left at 38 weeks and now I’m 39w4d and I still haven’t delivered. I left because it was just hard on my body. I’m a teacher and it requires so much brain power and energy that I just didn’t have anymore. I miss my kiddos though!

One week before due date

I only have one more week of work before I’m on leave. I’ll be 32 weeks. My dr is putting me out cause starting at 32 weeks I’ll be going to 2 appointments a week. I’m considered high risk due to hypertension since 23 weeks. I tried to get off starting at 34 weeks cause my dr is inducing me at 37 weeks and I wanted a few weeks. But my dr insisted on putting me out at 32 weeks due to going to more appointments. But I was fine with it. Since I’m getting 12 weeks of paid time off and I’m not returning back after. Which for some the paid time may not sound like much but in the US I consider it pretty good since a lot of places don’t pay.

I had to leave my previous occupation since work had restricted bathroom breaks even though I had a doctors note. The stress my precious occupation brought on me and the baby had me sent to the hospital two times. Since I was in my 6th month I have been home resting. I currently have one more month to go and will stay with baby and enjoy motherhood as much as I can😊

I started mine at 34 weeks, and will go back after a year probably. The luxuries of legally entitled maternity leave! If I lived in the US I probably would have worked up to giving birth because of the limited time off.
