Discouraged.

My 8.5 month old seems not at all interested in foods. Sometimes he'll have a couple small bites if something here and there but mostly refuses. He grabs at our plates and seems to want it but it goes in his mouth and back out usually or it seems he doesn't know quite what to do with it and it sits in his mouth. I know logically he'll get it down but I feel like we missed the boat somewhere when most babies his age are eating a whole lot more than he is. Anyone else deal with this?
