Thinking about getting an iud..

So, I’m 18 and I’m not on a birth control because I have very catholic parents and they’ve never been okay with the idea of me getting on bc or having sex at all. I like the idea of an iud because I won’t have to remember to take a pill or even necessarily tell my parents I have it. I’m very wimpy when it comes to pain though so I’m terrified of getting it put in. Can someone please tell me how bad the pain is and if it’s worth it?? And any other info you think is important?
