Should legally admitted VISA holders seeking permanent resident status be denied because they (legally) used non-cash government benefits like Medicaid, CHIP, etc?

Question

There is a government proposal that would jeopardize the chances of achieving lawful permanent residence/green cards for Visa holders who use Medicaid/CHIP, tax credits, etc. while seeking permanent resident status. Do you support this proposal? I’ll post part of the NPR article on this topic.

There’s more to the article, but that’s the main idea. What do you think?

So these are people who come here legally and  are probably working/paying taxes? Why would they be denied access to programs? I think it’s really fucked up that they’re using children as a pawn (if your kid is on support, you might be passed over) - I thought this was the pro life party? They’re seriously going to deny children (US citizen children) access to food?

I can’t help but feel like this 👆🏼 when people who know nothing on the process of immigration make ignorant comments. We don’t have time to educate you on the difference of permanent residency, citizenship, work visa holder etc. 🙄

my husband has a green card and pays into everything but he won't ever be able to claim social security until he becomes a citizen... the whole thing is a sham...
