When is it ok to ask if marriage is in the future?

We’ve been together for a year and a half. I’m not rushing and don’t need to be married tomorrow. But I don’t date for recreation and for shits and giggles. The ultimate goal is marriage (again, not saying I want to be married tomorrow or even this year). I was thinking I should wait another year to ask if that’s something that is going to be on the table. I don’t want to four years into a relationship to find out he doesn’t ever want to be married. He says that we are serious (we live together) but I want to see where he stands so we are on the same page. Is 2 1/2 years too early?

You should be able to openly discuss marriage if you’re living together. That should’ve been clear before moving into the same place.

Before my husband and I officially moved in together (we’d been together a year) I believe I said something along the lines of are you interested in marriage at some point? I emphasized that I didn’t want to get married NOW but I wasn’t interested in living with someone who I wasn’t going to be with long term—it wasn’t an investment of time that made sense to me. He said he was, but not yet and that was fine. However he proposed four months later lol. ❤️

I started having conversations about marriage with my husband after about 1 yr. Also, make sure you guys are on the same page about kids. We talked about that beforehand but never got into duscussions about adoption and other routes, I wish we had though

Me and my other half have been in a relationship for a year and a half and we talk about marriage openly nearly every week. When he gets tipsy he opens up more and talks and marriage and children and he tells me stories of what our future will be like 😌. He asked last night what ring I’d like, rose gold, sliver, gold etc! And he was telling me that he has things planned and when it happens I’ll know it’s happening. I hate surprises!!!! 😭😭😭 but I love the feeling of knowing that he wants to marry me and that one day in the future I will be walking down the aisle to his face at the end 😍😍😍

I feel like whenever things start to get serious it should be brought up. This way both parties are on the same page and neither are wasting time in a relationship where they don’t want the same thing in the end.
