Background noise - TV bad?

Question

So my little one is 5 weeks and for most of the day it’s a series of eating , sleeping and pooping which is to be expected but we are hanging out in the family room and I have the TV on binge watching Netflix throughout the day. Usually comedies, not necessarily violence or screaming all day.

What do you all do during the day with your babies? TV? Music? Nothing? Anyone had any language delays with the TV? I’m wondering if I should get headphones since it’s so many hours during the day.

I haven't read these articles but I can't Imagine that it will have an effect from such a young age. Babies crave white noise that simulates the noises they hear in the womb. It comforts them. That's why lots of babies fall asleep in the car or like the sound of a fan. I really wouldn't worry too much.

This sounds stupid🙄 my kiddo is 10 months old and we have the tv on pretty regularly. He has met every milestone early or on time. I feel like people over shelter. But that's just me🤷🏼‍♀️

The specialists here advice against the tv or the radio as a background noise.  Studies are being done to study the link between that, agressivity and social interaction disorders. They recommend using language to interact with the babies so they learn to communicate instead of being passive. 
You could always use a wireless headset if you want to watch something without exposing your kid to too much tv. :)

I dont personally keep the tv on during the day unless I'm actively watching something. Which is typically only during nap times. Otherwise, the tv is off and we're either listening to music when home or we're out doing things. I don't believe in having the tv on all day long. I'd much rather get my daughter out of the house and actively doing something. It's so much better for their development.

I specifically had my little critter sleeping with background noise in the beginning. No ill effects so far.
