When it's time to stop breastfeeding..

My personal goal has been to breastfeed until my LO turns 1. I have been getting alot of hate because I want to stop at a year. When did you stop/ plan to stop breastfeeding?

I stopped the week of my daughter’s first birthday. We were both ready. She wasn’t as interested in breastfeeding and she had become more interested in food. 
The important thing to remember is what’s right for one mom might not be right for every mom.

I did 2 years and 1 day (2 years was my goal) and received a ton of crap for nursing "too long". Personally I dont believe anyone outside of yourself and SO's opinions matter. Do whatever works best for your family and ignore everyone else.

13 months is when we stopped. My supply was dropping and my son wasn’t as interested as he used to be so we just slowly cut out sessions and used up what was in the freezer. It was a pretty easy transition for us.

My goal is only 3 months. . I won’t stop if everything works out with it, but if I make it to 3 months I’ll be happy. . Some women just can’t breastfeed period.. I mean even the first week is better than some can give. 🤷🏼‍♀️ as long as baby is fed and healthy then who gives a crap what other people think.

We did baby led weaning. My oldest never latched so I pumped exclusively for 11months and when I stopped she had 6mos of breast milk in the freezer so she had breast milk for 17mos. My middle child nursed for 14mos during my pregnancy and stopped nursing the week before my youngest was born. However after the baby came home she wanted to nurse again so we did tandem nursing and she quit shortly before her 2nd birthday. My youngest nursed till about 2 mos before his 3rd birthday. Not sure how long we’ll nurse this new baby yet or if I’ll even be able to since I had a BA 4yrs ago. But I’m hoping for a minimum of 18’mos.

I will stop when my son decides he is ready. He is 20 months and I’m 34 weeks pregnant. We will feed until at least two years and after that it’s something we will work out together. It’s not a problem for me if it continues for years longer, if that’s what he needs 👍🏻

With my 1st, I had planned to stop at a yr but went back to work. I didn't know at the time being first time mommy, my job was legally supposed to give me extra breaks to pump. so unfortunately, I dried up at 5 months. With my 2nd daughter, I was more knowledgeable when i went back to work. I planned to stop at 1 yr with her as well. However, with my daughter it was tough to stop. I had to taper her time down until she was completely off. By the time I stopped completely, it had been a yr and a half. Although, I wouldn't change a thing. I am now 12 wks with baby #3 and plan to do the same...I say breastfeed as long as you are comfortable, only you will be able to say when enough is enough. Go mama!! #AnotherProudBreastfeedingMama❤

Girl I’m with you on getting the weird comments! My son is 6 months and I plan to go to 12, but family members are starting to comment on this being weird and too long and when are we starting formula etc. My little guy just started rejecting bottles so thats a conversation stopper. The older generation is intense about BF though — like they seem to think it’s wrong to go past 3-4 months. I don’t even get into debates now (especially not w my dad and FIL — both of whom were super absent dads but have discovered their immense knowledge about BF in their 60s 😂😂😂😂). At the end, our bodies, our babies, our choices.

I plan on breastfeeding till around 9 months and switch to pumped milk in bottles instead, hopefully it will be easier that way since most baby’s want the comfort of mom not the actual milk after about a year
