Do dreams hold meanings?

Question

Do you believe in dreams trying to tell you something? I somewhat do, if you do what do you think about this dream I had last night. I dreamed that my boyfriend was in his car with a female friend while I was in the house (was in car with them but went inside). while inside somebody started breaking in, I couldn't run quick enough so I screamed get out of my home... The man started pouring gas on my hair/body and around my home. I begged him to stop and he just laughed....
what are your thoughts??

Some dreams I think are just completely random. But I do believe that they have meaning sometimes. I don’t believe in any supernatural/psychic kind of meanings. I think that your brain uses symbolism to describe things that you already know or think about in your waking life. 
So for your dream... you were sitting in a car with your boyfriend and another girl, and went inside where your house got broken into. I think that this represents fears/suspicions you may have about your boyfriend cheating OR fears/suspicions that another girl is going to try and interfere/fear of losing him; could maybe also represent feelings of powerlessness in some way, maybe you feel ignored by your partner where they go out and do their own thing and leave you behind. 
And the guy breaking in can represent either person involved. They come into your home and your life without permission, you don’t want them there, and instead of leaving they kind of torture you, no regard for your feelings, a “home wrecker”. Meanwhile your bf and the girl are no where to be found despite you screaming. 
Again, I don’t believe in premonition dreams. I don’t think they are ever warnings of things that will happen. Just fears/emotions that you already have. And it may have no logical basis. Maybe your partner has been acting shady or maybe they haven’t and you just feel like it’s “too good to be true” kinda thing so you are paranoid. Or fears that you aren’t good enough and he will stray. I believe it’s all symbolism and symbols can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people, so dreams are often vague and can come with a thousand different interpretations.

There are many, many theories on dreaming. I took a Psychology of Dreams class last semester. The most logical explanation for the kind of dream you’re having is high stress, fear of commitment, inability to cope with a certain situation, etc. it’s nothing you should be too scared of, although I’ve had my fair share of nightmares and I know they can be terrifying. If they’re frequent, try doing relaxation techniques before bed. I invested in a LOT of dream catchers (they work for the most part), and avoid stress triggers. Good luck. ❤️
