Introducing Paci/Soother?

My baby is about a week and a half and EBF. She definitely comfort feeds (which I don’t mind) but I’m starting to think about introducing a Paci/Soother so I can sleep more than 3hours. However I’ve been warned about nipple confusion so I’m trying to be careful.
How old were your babies before you introduced one?

My little had one from day one and breastfed fine. I still did not get more than 3 hours of sleep the first 3 weeks or so though. Good luck!

Ours had it in the hospital because he had to get shots for a possible infection.. it ended up being the only kind he’d take. He’s ebf and has had zero issue going from  breast to paci to bottle, I think because we introduced them early.

I waited the 3-4 weeks they recommended and my son NEVER took one. I got every pacifier on the market and tried until he was 8 months old. Next baby I'm giving a pacifier asap. 😴 However eating every three hours at a week old is actually REALLY good. I wouldn't expect much more after introducing a pacifier.

Nipple confusion is so rare. The nurses at the hospital told me they’d never heard of it happening to a baby they personally knew. I wouldn’t worry. Both mine took one from very early on. My daughter only lasted a week and then hated it. My son still likes his on occasion.

I was told as long as they have the whole breast feeding thing down then they can have a binky. That being said my youngest had to be formula supplemented and also has a binky and he’ll go back and forth without any problem. He’s only 3 weeks and has been introduced to those things since he was a couple days old.

Daddy popped one in her mouth at 6 days old. I honestly wasn't going to give my 3rd daughter a binky but she took that sucker so dang quick. Thankfully we were able to wein her by a year. Goodluck❤

3 hourly feeds are pretty normal for a baby that’s only a week and a half old, a pacifier won’t necessarily help with that
