Would I need to supplement with formula if my breasted baby doesn’t gain enough weight by their one month doctor appointment?

My little one is almost a month old.
He was 7lbs, 15 oz at birth and the last doctors visit he had on June 13th he was only 8lbs, 1oz. He did lose down to 7lbs, 13oz.
Does this seem like a normal weight pattern?

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions yet. Wait and see what your doctor says but at this point, your baby shouldn’t be losing ANY weight. It should strictly be weight gain after the first 1-2 weeks.

May be worth a call to a lactation consultant. See if they can recommend anything to boost supply or or keep him on longer or whatever the problem may be. Check out some foods that boost milk supply and such. If the doctor suggests supplementing for a bit it doesn't hurt.

It’s normal for babies to lose weight the first few days after birth, but should be back to their birth weight by the end of the first week. 
See how you go at the appt before you jump to anything. Agree with another lady who said you can supplement with expressed milk rather than formula if you don’t want to have to continue supplementing with formula later on

My baby was a very slow gainer at the beginning, and ironically the beginning is the only time I supplemented with formula. Each baby is different and you’d have to talk to your doctor to come up with the best game plan for your baby’s health. I will say that the best thing I did for my baby was feeding on demand 24/7. Let that little baby eat as much and as often as they want to. Get some Netflix shows ready and enjoy the snuggles!

you can try pumping and aupplementing with breast milk,  that's what our ped had us do for our slow gainer

If baby is crying for more milk and you don’t produce enough then probably but I wouldn’t give up if you really want to breastfeed. Try Mother’s milk tea, try feeding more frequently, different positions. From what my pediatrician said before, as long as it’s gaining weight and not losing weight, then it’s fine. I think I remember my baby was in the lower percentile earlier on and now she’s fine.

That is low. Only offer formula after you’ve breastfed until baby keeps pulling off. My baby was born at the 99th percentile and was 40th percentile at six months because my supply is awful. There is no shame in supplementing if you’ve exhausted all breastfeeding avenues.

My wife and I decided that our baby's health and weight gain are top priority. She was not producing enough breast milk initially so we supplemented until her body adjusted. Consult your baby's doc. If they feel the weight gain is a concern, you should supplement for baby's sake.

No, that's not a normal weight pattern. Your baby should be consistently gaining and he's not. He weighs less than he did at birth. If you aren't producing enough and he's not gaining enough weight then you absolutely should be supplementing. Your child's health should be your top priority.
