Genital herpes or dermatitis ?? Please help

so basically my period came on Saturday and all was fine but on Monday I noticed some spots around my vag lips ! Did not think much of it as it was not causing any discomfort ! .. so then yesterday morning I decided to shave so I could see them better .. they just looked like spots! So after shaving I could see them much better but then I was starting to get super itchy down there!! There are about 8 spots on my vaginal lips and they are all separate.. There aren’t like blisters I have not had any fever or mad symptoms that genital herpes would usually cause .. I went to the doctor this morning and he was a little clueless however got the nurse in and she said she believes it could be the cold sore virus (genital herpes) she gave me some tablets to help with it and took a swab saying I would know within a week! However these spots don’t hurt that much?? It’s hardly like they are there however I am prone to contact dermatitis and I get it real bad on my hands .. the itchiness reminds me of when I get it on my hands ! And the itchiness reminds me of bacterial vaginosis or thrush which again I have had multiple times in the past.. so I’m super confused has anyone been wrongly diagnosed genital herpes ?? Because I don’t want to assume it’s that which they are saying it probably is .. if it isn’t !!! My doctors surgery are useless and have wrongly diagnosed things so much in the past that’s why I am doubting it!
