Question

At the age of 12 I was relentlessly sexually abused by a teacher. 
Now 18, my mum claims that it was more damaging for her and that she hurts more because of what happened and not me. 
It makes me feel so shit and so unworthy of feeling upset because she takes it all away from me and makes it her problem.

Wow I don’t think I’ve ever heard something so narcissistic in my life. Every feeling you have toward what YOU went through is completely valid and YOU are the victim/survivor not her so how dare she make it about her. You are allowed and justified to feel whatever way you want.

Omg my mom always says shit like that and it’s always fucking bothered me. Like if I was going through a break up, (which isnt nearly as bad as what you went through)    she would say that we “went through it together”...um no we didn’t. I understand that I’m not a parent, and that watching your child go through something awful isn’t easy, but don’t make it your experience.
