I was looking through mine and my fiancé’s bank statements and noticed he’s been keeping money from me and spending it on himself. I confronted him about it and he doesn’t understand why it’s such a big deal. We have solely been using our joint account since March (or so I thought). I have. I haven’t used a personal account ONCE since we made this decision but he’s been putting money in his account and keeping it secret from me. We’ve been struggling financially and had to ask grandparents to buy formula for our baby. And here he is with money buying things for himself. I’m so pissed and only thing he’s worried about is why I was snooping on his bank account. I wasn’t. I was looking at our joint account and his account is linked. I just happened to see it. 😤

Okay, if we were well off and didn’t need the money he’s hiding, it would bother me less (still bothersome that it’s secret no matter what). BUT if you are struggling then there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for him to hide money from you. I don’t care how important he thinks these things are to him, buying necessities is always more important.

This is suspicious to me. Like why would he feel the need to hide his money from you? What is he putting before your baby? Something doesn’t add up to me, I would def take a look at his statements from that account

I don’t necessarily think it’s suspicious like some do but so selfish. I think he wants something to keep to himself that he doesn’t have to share, which doesn’t really work when that means he’s with holding from his kid(s) (and wife).

I don't think it would bother me if we weren't struggling but the fact that y'all are having to ask family for money bc he's stowing away money for "him" is bullshit! My husband takes out cash weekly for his spending and it doesn't bother me in the least...its usually just junk but would not happen if we weren't making it

That is so low. Denying your child is not acceptable and I would be furious. My fiance and I have a joint account as well as personal accounts. The joint always comes first. We both put what we need to there and IF there are leftovers they go into our respective accounts. I think it's important to be able to make our own decisions but not at the expense of the household.
