Anyone getting a birth photographer?

...or have you had one in the past? Curious if people appreciate having those photos. FTM and would love to hear others' thoughts.

I'm having a photographer for our birth and my husband is not happy about it. he hates how expensive it is and thinks he will feel weird with her there. I've met the lady and truly believe she will be more like a fly on the wall than in our face. It has been a fight between us but I'm not backing down. If I don't do it I know I will always regret it.

My mother arrived just as baby was crowning and first thing she did was get out her camera and start taking pictures! No...I personally do not like these types of photos and do not even have copies of them. Maybe if you had a professional you could get some good artsy ones, but still not really my thing.

I was supposed to with my first but we didn't contact her fast enough and baby was born before she got there. 2.5h labor. I sooo wish she would have been there bc I remember almost nothing.

This is my 4th and this will be my first time doing it. I am really excited to have someone that does very tasteful pics of birth. As long as there is no complications the babies dad will be helping to deliver his son so to have someone catch his every emotion during that moment will be priceless. I would have been to shy before but also becoming a nurse has made me want it even more. It's. part of life that is most beautiful and I can't wait.

I’d personally rather not be reminded of how shitty I look and feel during labor.. my husband and mom in law have a couple shots of me (from our first) they snuck and it makes me so angry. If they ever ended up on social media, oh lord someone’s ass would be above my fireplace! I’m considering our moms in the room during delivery. I specifically said no photos or you can get the fuck out lol yeah I’d rather save pictures for just baby! Don’t capture me on camera during labor or delivery! Don’t even get me afterwards!

We had one with our first and I loved it! I asked for G rated pictures, so she was there during labor and delivery and just got pictures of details at the hospital, as well as pictures of my husband and I laboring together. Then she took pictures of delivery, but only chest up and captured the first few minutes after meeting my son

We’re having one because I REALLY want the moment where we see him for the first time captured on camera. My husband is terrible at taking pictures so I didn’t want to give him that job lol.

I wanted to for my first born, but husband said it was to expensive and weird. The lady did really tasteful photos, no crotch shots, so I didn’t think it was weird. Still sad about it :(

my moms best friend took picturss for us the first time, and shes planning to do so again! she got such amazing photos!!! i will always cherish them, even if they are only on a flash drive in our safe.
