For SAHM's: Do you get a break from the kids when your partner comes home from work?

Question

I would like to know for how many stay-at-home moms it's full time 24/7 taking care of kids, no help and how many moms have a balanced family life where their husbands(or partners) help them get some time to themselves.

No my husband works 4am to 7pm mon to Saturday earliest he finishes is 530 so no he works hard and is exhausted

I put rarely because on occasion I need to step away lol but more often than not I take it all on because my husband has just come home from his very strenuous job and he works long hours so I prefer him to just eat, shower and relax while he’s home.

Not at all. But that’s because my husband works 12 hour shifts and doesn’t get home before they go to bed. On his days off, he has a basketball tournament one day, and the next day I let him sleep in so he can have a day off. On days he gets home earlier for work, he goes and practices with his basketball team. I get zero help, besides once a month when my mom takes them to stay the night.

My husband is completely amazing. He does the entire bed time routine unless he is busy. We both work as a team as soon as he gets home. He has a physical job but still helps. He’s so amazing!

This is our first so I'm not sure yet but i have a good feeling he'll be very helpful. we talked about it already and i just know he will help even though he works. when i use to babysit he would come home from work and let me get some rest while he helps watch the child. he even insisted he'll help with diaper changes and i plan to pump so he can also help with feedings so they can bond too. i even told him once the baby comes since I've been on baby duty for 9 months I'm going out to enjoy some me time and he'll be alone with the baby and he said that's cool with him lol. crossing fingers it's not all talk 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

My husband takes over at night and early morning. Once I fall asleep, I can't wake up when she cries. I tried staying up all night but figured out I don't function very well on no sleep for days 🤔

Yes!!! When my husband gets home from work, he completely takes over. I have time to finish up work if I am behind (I run an Education Consulting Business from home), rest, etc. My husband is amazing. He is a college football coach and a recruiter at a college 50 minutes away from our home so his time varies. However when he gets home, I can ALWAYS count on him to relieve me. We sit down to eat as a family first (unless she and I have already eaten) then I make sure I have breast milk thawed and he takes care of her. On Sundays after church, I usually have my "Me Time". That's when I enjoy mani/pedi, shopping without baby, etc. My husband is amazing and although I know he's tired once he gets home from work, he still finds time to help out with our daughter. He also helps out with household chores. We give her a bath together. He changes diapers. When she was waking up at night for feedings, he would change her diapers once I was done nursing.

He's very good about it, unofficially in charge of putting our toddler to bed (nothing too major, diaper change, filling a sippy of water, tracking down the blankie, special prayer). May or may not change back to me at some point, now that I'm out of the first trimester (total nightmare), but they need time for their relationship, too. I also make sure I get downtime, because I know I'm a better mom when I do. Occasionally spend an evening playing Xbox with my SIL playing Xbox (my husband and toddler are early birds but I'm not), picked up a few hours a week from my old job doing inventory and ordering supplements (mostly from home, but do have to go in every so often in the evening or weekends for a physical count). Sometimes my husband will take kiddo off to visit his parents for a few hours so I can get some stuff done, and then join them for dinner.

He will occasionally help out with diapers but it’s really only if I ask... some weekend mornings the he will bring me baby to feed him and if baby falls back to sleep he stays with me in bed or he will take baby down to the living room so I can get some sleep. But that is about it... typically when I wake up (if I sleep in) I find that he never changed his diaper so it’s a mess that I get to clean up..
