How do I tell my partner
We got ferrets last week. Don’t get me wrong I love the little boy I picked. But the smell from them is killing me! We clean the litter at least 2x a day, clean the cage daily. It’s horrible making me throw up horrible. Today I realized I can not handle this odor, I can not bring my newborn home at the end of October to this odor. I can not breathe! I really thought that I could handle it, but it’s making me feel like I live in filth, I gag when I come inside, I can’t sleep because the odor is everywhere it seems. Not only that but he’ll only take his girl out for 20 minutes maybe right before bed. But he gets mad at my daughter for wanting to take them out and play with them. I feel absolutely horrible, we visited them almost daily at the store for a month, did our research, talked to employees, friends everyone that has ferrets. I just can not handle it, my throat is sore from throwing up, my eyes are swollen. I need advice. I know the best thing for them is to regime them. It’s my partner I’m worried about, I’m scared of his response, reaction. How he’ll be towards me afterwards.
To add... they are being transitioned to a cat food diet, they are spayed, neutered, and de-odorized. We use horse pellets as litter which is cleaned 2x a day. I do take them both out to play multiple times a day. I’m just noting that he loves his ferret so much but holds her for about 20minutes a day.
