Single Parent, But Not...

My fiancé and I have a 15-week-old son. I love this kid more than I ever thought possible. He's my whole universe. I'm a SAHM and I love it. My fiancé had 8 weeks bonding leave. I was so excited for those 8 weeks. I couldn't wait to see how they interacted.

Well, almost the entire 8 weeks, my fiancé was either sleeping, playing computer games, or going out to eat with his mother. He barely interacted with our son at all. And now our son is 15 weeks, and his dad still barely interacts with him! He says he's nervous and has never done this before and doesn't know how to be a dad. But neither do I! I'm a FTM! I had to push through my anxiety and figure things out as I went along I've told my fiancé to talk to his therapist about this and he has. And he's said his therapist told him it takes time for some parents to bond. I agreed with this, but told him it takes time AND effort. He rarely helps me with our son, rarely holds our son, and then complains he's overwhelmed with being a dad. He is 30 years old and I am 20, and I feel like I almost have 2 kids! And don't even get me started on his mother.

My mum has been a single mom since I was 3 years old. She tells me all the time that it seems more like I'm a single mom, rather than a mom with a fiancé. And I feel this way too. It's so frustrating. I feel like my son's dad wants nothing to do with him and that he regrets him, but my fiancé says that's not the case.

I would take all the responsibilities with our son, if my fiancé would just try and bond with him! We're in couples' counseling right now, but my fiancé barely talks during it. I love him and want things to work out, but at this point, it would be so much easier if we just split up. I'm not willing to give up, but he seems like he already has.

Sorry for the long post! Just very sad and very tired and very frustrated.
