Should I get an IUD? If so which one?

So I'm 17 and heading off to college soon (in about a year if everything goes well). I did a lot of my freshman classes in highschool and have skipped the majority of my freshman year, I will only be a freshman for a little less than a semester. My longtime boyfriend of three years is the same way except he has more hours than me and will be a sophmore going in. The question rests as since he will live in an apartment, and I'll be living on campus (until I loose fishie status), I kinda want the freedom of having a predictable period as well as not needing contraception for those uh... Warm nights.

Ive read up on the iud, and how much it hurts to be put in etc. But I'm not sure what type I'd want.

Or what would be better for my body. To my knowledge I have no serious health issues.

What's the difference between the different types of IUD? (Skyla, Minera, Paraguard etc.)
