Will these humorous road signs actually make people safer drivers?

Jenna

Daniel Taylor, an employee at the Virginia Department of Transportation has created many quirky road signs (a few have been shown below) such as “You’re not a firework. Don’t drive lit.” Many have said these humorous boards catch people’s attention better and give people a good chuckle when stuck in traffic, but do you think they will actually help safety? One issue they saw at the very beginning was that people would slow down to look at them (rubbernecking in a way), but since the messages are kept short and when people get used to them being there, I assume that problem will clear itself up. What do you think?
