Did your man not like kids until he had them?

Question

I’m concerned my boyfriend will never get to that “let me get you pregnant” phase of his life. We’re still young, but I want kids a lot more than he does. He mentions them in his future but doesn’t really like kids.. it concerns me.

My fiance was always adamant he didn't want kids when we first started dating now here we are 8 years later with two kids!! He's the best daddy in the world and they are his life I think men just don't grow up as quick as women

My husband had always said that he dislikes everyone else's kids and would be fine never having kids. I told him it was a deal breaker. 
He loves our son with his whole being. Even has started asking for a second child.

My husband didn’t hate kids… but he was kind of indifferent. However, he did want his own kids. I was patient and didn’t push him to have a kid, I just let him know when I felt ready, and he told me he also felt ready to be a dad. Now he is a VERY hands-on dad, and very affectionate and involved with our daughter. Every man is different, this is just my experience. 
I will say too, he wasn’t as hands-on in the newborn stage. I could tell he was not confident and not as engaged with her when she was a baby. But now that she’s 2 (probably started around a year old) he has been super crazy in love with her.

This is another side to the story but I am the result of a man who didn’t want kids. My mom wanted kids, so he had my brother and I, but he didn’t want us, and it showed. He loves us, but I know we were a hindrance to his life plan. 
My sister in law had a child with her husband, who obviously did not want a child. She goes on endlessly about how he loves being a dad and so on and so forth (she has always been delusional about everything)...but it is pretty obvious to everyone that although he loves his son, again, it wasn’t what he wanted. I think that happens a lot. My nephew will have to live his life knowing he was unwanted by his father. No amount of therapy can take away that feeling on abandonment and inadequacy.  Kids are more perspective than we give them credit for.
Now, these are people that did not want children, not just were indifferent so keep that in mind. I do know that when someone doesn’t want kids, and you do, it should be a dealbreaker. Some people may change, yes, but take it from the unwanted daughter, it isn’t worth the risk.

My husband was kind of scared of babies before we had one. He likes them fine now. 
I’m the one who didn’t like kids, and frankly I still pretty much don’t... I mean, mine are great (mostly), but the rest of them? Annoying booger factories pretty much.

How old is he? It took my boyfriend some times to warm up to the idea of kids and him as a father.

Mine loved kids when he met mine, but didn’t know when he wanted his own. Knew he wanted one with me when we had been dating a few years, but totally backed away from them after some problems. An accidental pregnancy later, and he’s weirdly super excited for it now. You can never tell with complicated men sometimes.

My husband doesn't like some other children. He loves kids but a lot of the ones we know are *very* spoilt. To the point they hit when not getting their way. They don't put him off, they just make him want to be a great father and focus on raising well behaved children. I'm 12w now so he doesn't have much choice anyway haha

He didn't dislike kids, he would play with his nieces but he didn't go out of his way to spend time with kids. So I wouldn't say he loved them either. He is great with our daughter. I think it's really just different when it's your own kid.
