Baby before marriage?

My boyfriend of 6 years and I are TTC.. I’m an RN with a bachelors degree, we are both settled with jobs and a new home. The only thing missing is a ring on my finger. Just waiting for him to pop the question which is apparently his plan sometime soon. I was raised by my grandparents who are old-fashioned and traditional. They would prefer that I’m married first and of course I don’t want to disappoint them but I feel like this is a perfect time for us to begin this TTC journey and if I were to conceive right now I’d be over the moon. It just kinda makes me feel bad seeing that most people on here are married and I’m curious about people’s thoughts/opinions on having a baby before marriage.

We had our first before getting married. I was 9 or 10 weeks with our second when we got married.

Don’t let anyone else influence your plans. You are the one living your life, not your grandparents. If you feel this is the right time, then go for it!

Everybody’s opinion will be different in one way shape or form and the only ones that matter are yours and your bf ultimately! 
The way I see it there are many factors to support not waiting, age (getting older)/readiness/uncertainties with respect to fertility etc etc. And there’s reasons to wait, social scrutiny, not having your baby’s last name match both mommy and daddy until married, having a pregnancy or baby while planning a potential wedding.
I was pregnant with our second when we got married but we did an elopement type wedding with no planning at all. We didn’t care about people’s judgement having kids before marriage and there’s a handful of my family that don’t talk to me anymore! (Messed up I know, and it hurt!! Really bad...but why have petty judgemental people in your child’s life anyhow) 
Most family forget about the order I. Which you’re doing things after your adorable little baby comes anyhow.
My husband and I were in our 30s when we met and fell in love. We immediately started trying when we decided to commit to having a family together. My first pregnancy was filled with complications so no elopement during or after that pregnancy and then we wanted our children close so we started trying again after her first birthday. Second pregnancy was easier so we eloped during that!

Me and my SO have 3 kids together. 2 yr old, 1 yr old, and one due in Jan. Me and him are not married right now but do plan on getting married. I think everyone views things differently, and how we look at it is we dont need to be married with the husband/wife title to prove that we love each other and to have a family together. I already pretty much consider him as my husband. We are engaged though and have been since our 2nd baby. We're really waiting for the right time too. But if it means a lot to you and your family, there are plenty of women who are ttc or pregnant, and still get married during the pregnancy. Usually before they get too big 😊 if hes planning on asking soon then I dont see why not.

I had our first, then we started trying for our second, got engaged, got pregnancy, and got married. I see nothing wrong with it. Don’t plan your life around how others feel! If you want to start trying, I say go for it. Your grandparents might be snooty about it, but once the baby gets here, I doubt they’ll not be ecstatic to have a little great grand-baby. And if they really still are angry about it once you have a baby, then those are the kind of people I wouldn’t even try to please.

I personally think the whole "wait til you're married to have babies" is really outdated. Let's face it--people don't stay married like that used to. They used to say to wait because if you got married, you'd stay married. That's not the case anymore so who cares?
