Do you sleep train?

Do you sleep train? What age did you start if so? Which method worked best for you and your little one?

I don’t believe in letting a baby cry until it falls asleep. To me it seems mean and causes stress to the baby and me. I rocked my baby to sleep every night and for every nap. She slept through the night fine unless she was sick or teething or having f a regression. During those times we would sleep on a recliner or on the floor and once she was over it she would go back to sleeping like normal. One day she decided she didn’t want to be rocked anymore and now lays down and goes to sleep pretty much by herself. I stand by her crib until she is basically asleep.

I do not sleep train, because I believe that sleep is developmental and “sleeping through the night” is extremely unrealistic for an infant. Some babies do happen to be good sleepers but more often than not babies naturally wake up several times a night for the first couple of years. 
I did not sign up to be a parent only during the daytime hours. My baby needs me 24/7 and I cater to her needs. Even if all she needs is physical contact. 
All sleep training does is teach the baby that crying is useless because no one is coming to help them. There have also been studies done showing adverse affects on people who were sleep trained as infants later in life. I’m not super familiar with those studies so I can’t really speak to them.

I read on Becoming Babywise and started the principles around 2 weeks with both of my children. I highly recommend it to everyone. Both of my children have slept through the night at about 6-7 weeks. My 2 year old still sleeps 12 hour stretches at night. My 3 month old sleeps all night - about 9 hours consistently and we’re working up to 12. Both self soothe to sleep and nap predictably. The work it takes to sleep train is worth it for my sanity (I’m much less likely to deal with depression or mood swings when I’m well rested) and my children’s health and sleep!

Initially at 8 months & I did ferber method which only made her more upset. Then I did extinction when she was 1 & I cut out all night feedings, it took 3 days & maybe 10 minutes of crying. She sleeps from 7:30-6am

I don’t because I’m lucky enough to not have to. My little dude slept 7-8 hours straight a night at around 5 weeks old

6 months worked great took about 3 weeks then he slept from when we put him down until 5 or 6 am
