Working moms - how do you do it? 😭😢

Question

I’m going to be back working from 7-5 soon. Plan is to drop LO off at daycare at 630 am. Dad is going to pick her up at 330 pm. After my long commute I won’t be home until about 540ish. Baby girl goes to bed at 7. That leaves me only a little over an hour with her. I only work 4 days a week and have Wednesday/Saturday/Sunday all day with her but it sucks only seeing her for a few awake hours at night. Does anyone else deal with a similar situation? How do you cope? Does it get better with time? Any advice/stories/tips would be amazing. Thanks 😭💔 
Also, staying home is not an option for me financially. I understand it’s best and would love to be able to, but I can not.

I’m in this same situation except I work 5 days a week, and daycare is a 20 minute commute each way. At first it was incredibly hard and I felt so guilty that he spent more time awake at daycare than home with me, but also like you, staying home is unfortunately not an option. I’m the breadwinner of the family, and we could never afford it. It does get better although I always feel so guilty. My parents both worked full time when we were growing up and we turned out just fine and never felt neglected so I just keep reminding myself of that. I soak up every moment I can with my little one.

It’s just part of life. That’s like asking how do you make the best of not being on vacation all the time? Or being home cuddling your SO all day? 
Well, you find work that fulfills you and pays enough, then you make the best of the time you do have to do the things you’d otherwise love to do all the time. It is truly quality versus quantity. And honestly, now that my daughter is older, it is so much easier to have that separation of time and even of person. We aren’t one person. We have distinct interests, so it’s nice to enjoy time to do the things that interest us independent of each other and then enjoy the bits of time we do have together. It’s the same as making the best of the time you have with your husband or family or friends.

It sucks but that’s reality unfortunately. You could look into finding a job closer to home if possible. I drop my daughter off at 7 & my husband gets her at 4:30. So we have a little play time, dinner, bath, & bed by 7:30. Can’t say it gets better but you get used to it

Yup, it’s sucks! You get used to it and you get really good and maximizing the time you have. You also really appreciate the weekends :) 
Spend the time you have with your child and do the other necessary evils after he or she goes to bed.
I love my job so I also re-appreciated my job and sense of fulfillment I get from it. It’s not as much as motherhood but it’s there.

I’m following this thread too as I’m really interested to hear peoples advice. I’ll be in the same situation myself (though will likely be back to full time hours 😔) and we can only really afford for me to take 6 months maternity leave.
