My bf doesn’t want to go to this one dance club I was really excited about because his ex and her family go there. It kinda broke my heart a little bit, but I also feel like I might be overreacting. Would you be upset if your s/o avoided a place because of their ex?

I would want to avoid it too. Last thing I would want is confrontation when I’m out enjoying myself.

I mean I wouldn't be upset about it but I'd talk to him about it. Me and my SO don't care for our exes, we've ran into them at parties and even fast food places lol.

It totally depends on 1: if the place is one I can live without going to and 2: how much it matters to my partner.
If it’s a place I have to / need to go to for one reason or another I’ll give them the option of going or not. If it’s not a place I need to go to then the point is moot, it makes my partner uncomfortable so I’ll avoid it whilst with them. If it’s a place I want to go and they don’t then I’ll probably save the visit for a night out with friends.
Above all, why is something that will be talked about regardless of what happens. And if they decide to change their opinion on the place and decide they want to go then great, make it a date.
