When will my LO understand directions?

Question

When are toddlers able to understand directions? For example I would say "give phone" and "let me kiss your nose (in my language I am able to say this with only two words)". When did ya"ll notice that your LO understood you and actually did what you asked??

I’ve been taking to my kids using adult words (no baby talk) since day 1. They understood at a very early age. My son is 2 and can talk circles around most kids his age. My daughter is 14 months. She doesn’t say much other then basic words, but understands everything. She can follow multi-step directions to a tee, without me having to repeat them over and over. I use simple phrases like “throw away the trash and come sit down”. She has been doing this for a while now.

I think by 15 months my son was consistently following instructions. I could hand him his diaper and tell him to "go throw it in the garbage"  or "put your socks in the drawer." 
Now at 18 months he helps clean up, if I hand him a wash cloth he will wipe his own hands and mouth as well as wipe up the mess on his high chair.

My daughter understands, she is 17 months old. If I ask her to put her toys away she will grab her toy bucket and start throwing them back in.

My 15-month-old has been understanding and following basic directions for quite some time now. Like probably 10 or 11 months old or so.

my son was pretty good at understanding things by the time he turned one. he was able to follow directions such as give me ur diaper or sit down on the couch. littke things here n there. now, hes 2 and hes the one bossing me around. he can speak and understand english and Spanish and u can understand every word he says. i have a 5 year old and i think thats why hes so talkarive because he mimics everything my oldest son says

It starts slow I think. Maybe around 14 months is when I noticed my daughter started to understand basic things? And it’s just growing from there.
