New cup user... it hurts

So I just got my first cup, lunette 2, and I only lasted two days using it before I was sore. I didn’t have any problems getting it in, it was comfortable while in, but it hurt taking it out once the rim got close to the opening. I tried getting it to fold a little before removing it, but I couldn’t get a good enough handle on it to fold it enough and it’s a fairly stiff cup. Do I just need more practice or is there a trick I’m missing? Do I need a softer cup? Any suggestions?
