Trying to understand OPK sticks

This is my 3rd month TTC after having a miscarriage in July. I brought Easy@home opk so as to not spend so much money when I also use PreSeed and fertilaid/supplements. I got my period on Sept 24-28. I started testing on Oct 1st. The 1st day was mildly dark and each day after has been faint. I test at the same time each day. I’m 43 and time isn’t on my side so I’m anxious to figure out if this is common or am I doing something wrong. I time each segment of the test per the instructions. Is it worth the expense for the digital ovulation kits?
