How much formula at 5 months?

We’re switching our baby to formula (has been breastfed up until now) for many reasons. I’m not keeping up and it’s heartbreaking to me but it is what it is...
How much at a time do 5 month olds usually take? And how often? This is my second baby and I just don’t remember what we did last time.

I know the struggle when you have to switch from breastfed to formula. With my first, I wasn’t sure how much to give her either. I started with 2oz every 2 hours and just watched her cues to see if she was still hungry and such. I had to switch at 2 months though, so a little younger than where you are. 
The rule of thumb is 2oz per pound. So if your baby weighs 12lbs, 24 ounces is what your baby should be getting in a day. I would start small, do maybe 2-3 ounces and if she acts like she’s still hungry after that, give another ounce. She might take 4oz every 3-4 hours. Maybe more ounces with a longer break in between. Every baby is different, so it’s hard to say. But as long as she has the 6-8 wet diapers a day, and is consistently gaining weight, then she’s getting enough formula!

Every baby is different. If they’re still hungry they’ll let you know. My daughter takes 5 oz every 3-4 hours and she’s 9 almost 10 months old. Even before starting solids she couldn’t handle very much at a time. She just spits it up if we give her anymore than that.

My son was drinking 8oz every 2 hours that he was awake, so about 36-40oz depending on the day. He was a pig though.
